Something about Neath Port Talbot inspires people here to create beautiful things. Maybe it’s the dramatic landscapes. It could be our industrial heritage. Or perhaps it’s something in the water. Whatever the answer, our creative talent ‘exports’ like Katherine Jenkins, Michael Sheen and Anthony Hopkins all call this neck of the woods ‘home’.
And we don’t just supply the people in front of the cameras, our Arts and Creative industries provide imagination and expertise in screenwriting, set design, production and sound engineering. It’s clear that creativity is in our DNA, along with a strong cultural identity and our ambition to develop and grow the economy.
Wales is recognised as a centre for TV and film production. The Creative Industries is one of Wales’s fastest growing sectors, with an annual turnover of over £1.9 billion and employing around 58,000 people, 52% more than 10 years ago.
The Bay Studios in Neath Port Talbot is one of Europe’s largest film studios, with over 600,000 sq. ft. of sound stage facilities and nearly 80,000 sq. ft. of production offices.
“For me, it’s great to see such amazing work happening close to home, with many people
working on various productions that have come to the area. When given the opportunity, the people of Neath Port Talbot always inspire and amaze with their creativity, commitment, passion and talent. They can produce world-class work and, with this kind of platform, the world will have the chance to experience that.”
