Baglan Energy Park is home to Wales’s first hydrogen research and demonstration centre, developed by the University of South Wales and supported by Neath Port Talbot Council and the Welsh Government.
The Hydrogen Research Centre provides a focal point for R&D of hydrogen energy technology in Wales and for a series of collaborative projects between the university and industrial partners.
One of the main functions of the centre is to raise awareness of hydrogen as a clean and sustainable energy carrier, with the potential to reduce our dependence on imported energy. As well as research on hydrogen production and storage, work is also undertaken on the economic and social impacts of hydrogen energy.
